A Garden in a box, shoe box that is.

Nearly all of my garden is in five shoe boxes. The exception being my squash and onions. I don’t know whether to plant onion sets or onion plants. I am hoping to transplant the third week of April and plant in the garden the middle of May. Keep your fingers crossed, we are due for a good gardening year.

  1. I vote for onion plants. I’ve never had much luck growing large onions from sets. I use my plastic shoe boxes as nurseries too. Then, as the seedlings begin to put on some size I transfer them from the lid to the “dome”. I’m also betting on a good gardening year.

  2. I agree on the onion plants. The problem I’m having is finding healthy plants. The same goes for sweet potatoes.
